"The fashion to be federal" talks about the connection between federal and democracy are connected. The article gives examples of democracy with a base of federalism with the One person one vote deal, and goes on to talk about how federalism may seem totally opposite of democracy but is actually a major part of voting, and much other rights that are taken for granted. With what is going on in Egypt right now, the people have a choice of how there government will be set up, and this comes to the conclusion of how there rights will be taken care of, will everything be equal (one person one vote) or will representatives based on population for each state be established?

Federalism is appealing to countries that are large and/or ethnically diverse, because it makes it possible for the smaller units within it get recognized when voting. the problem is that sometimes certain countries will be oddly represented in the electoral college which off sets the balance, for an example, Northern Ireland sends three voters while Greek-Cypriot voters send six. I suppose that there could be a formula created that would know the fair amounts of representation needed to keep things equal.

It talks about how countries want to be both democratic and federal. And how it appeals to large or ethnically mixed contries. it also Talks about the one person one vote thing, and how more counties that were ruled by a group want this. they are opposite of each other making it rather had fo rboth ways to work with each other.

When observing different ways to govern a country, it is most common for people look strongly towards their vote representation. Democracy is often viewed as the top way to govern a society due to this stress on power to the people, leaving other systems, such as federalism, to go unnoticed. Federalism is a system in which the power to govern is shared between national and provincial/state governments and stressing an electoral college not based on population. This way of government is most attractive to large or ethically mixed countries, such as thriving Lybia due to its ethically mixed culture and evolving Egypt because of its size; Or even the developed European Union after World War Two to. The reasoning behind such attractions are obvious: large population and many different cultures means more aggressive voting. The issues of Federalism in a modern era, where people that live in the United States for example and can move easily from state to state, is that the states compete with each other in an unproductive manner. They try to offer the least amount benefits to their citizens to avoid attracting citizens from other states who would receive those benefits. These problems can be minimized if the states end the on-going competition and look at one another as teammates. And a more fair way of representation in the electoral college would also minimize the issues with Federalism, such as if a state has a higher population than anothern then they should recieve more representation. And with issues outside of the United States, minimizing issues could also include representation based on population to level the playing field.

The appeal of federalism is that it balances state power and the will of the people so that it allows for the most effective distribution of effective legislation and representation of the populace. The problem is that this distribution can sometimes interfere with the desires and rights of the minority. This is countered by giving the minority an improportionate level of representation, but this solution in itself causes problems where the votes of some people count for more than the votes of others. The problem is that this is the best solution anyone has come up with. No solution can ever perfectly fix the issue of representation, but it's important to balance things as well as possible or the government can lose touch with the people it is governing.

Federalism is appealing to large countries that want to evenly distribute its representation to all of its citizens. the problem with this is that the distribution of representation can be off and cause many problems. for example in the U.S a less populated state like Wyoming has the same amount of senators as California which has a lot more people than Wyoming. There is no easy way to solve this problem.

The article talks about how federalism appeals to large and ethnically diverse countries. It appeals to countries that are ethnically diverse because every group, whether big or small has representation in their government. It also talks about how its a problem how federalism gives some votes more weight than others violating the one man one vote principle mentioned. This is contradicts the principle embedded in democracy which is that every one is equal so it makes it hard for me to understand how the people of a country can be represented well and fairly.

This article is explaining federalism versus democracy. One third of the diverse suffarage of people and the protest that occured, have left people knowing it is important to aspire both democratic and federal. Federalism is based for a larger countries such as Egypt, however Rupak Chattopahyay, the canadian scholar believe that Egypt needs to become decenteralized to deal with the eighty four million people who are in dissagreement with their government. The OPOV is obviously inevitable to violate in some countries but is important that remains intact so all countries are included. The democracy is needed to make sure the rights of the people are safe and the loose fereralism needs to be there to secure the people.

the article is talking about federalism versus demorcracy. the appeal of federalism is that every person, has the right to one vote. that they the people get to make and decide on such decisions. it is appealing to much larger countries, because it gives small states inside the countrie a chance to decide and give their input on things. the problem is that there could be a size difference, or population difference. like they said, Wyoming and California, one more populated than the other, yet with the same amount of representation. the problems can be minimized to some extent only for certain reasons, maybe the state they are not giving total vote to is not populated enough or educated, but there is no real way to solve this issue because everyone wants a say in a vote and either one or the other will get mad. i personally think that if a state is over populated by some number, then they should be given another representative and that is onyl fair due to their size and population.

Federalism appeals a lot because of the fact that it maintians a democracy. It does that by allowing many of the "rights" people have to keep, but it also regulates the rights they have so they do not abuse them. For example freedom of speech, if someone was to yell fire in a movie theatre then they would be in trouble because they threatned the life of others. The problem federalism possess is the balance of powers it has to distrubute between the states, itself, and the people. With out maintianing a proper balance of power federalism becomes a problem. So how to solve the problem of balance of power is to simply regulate federalism so it gives powers equaly out to the states and peoples of the country.
