•What do you think?
•How would you have responded if you were in Abraham’s situation?
According to the Bible, God commands Abraham to kill his son Isaac. Although God eventually interferes and prevents Abraham from killing his son, the question arise of whether killing a child can become morally right when God commands it to be done.
•What do you think? •How would you have responded if you were in Abraham’s situation?

In that situation IF God were to command someone to kill their own son, it would be understandable...but depending what's at stake, I wouldn't do it.

I think it's tough to answer because I haven't heard of many cases outside of the Bible itself where God directly spoke to people. If I was in Abraham's position, I would most likely kill my son, because I would be really confused that God was real and talking to me and terrified of the consequences.

No, it is not morally right to kill a child when God says to. While I do respect people's belief in God, I don't believe that one has to follow every aspect that God preaches. If I were in Abrahams situation, I would not have killed my child to please God.

It is a very difficult situation and depends on the views of individuals and their faith in God, but if someone were to completely have faith in God and he tells him to commit something immoral, I believe someone would do so because they would fear the consequences of going against God.

I guess the point of the story was to imply that God never would have let Abraham kill his son, he just wanted him to prove his loyalty. So ultimately you should always trust that God knows whats right. If I were Abraham, I would question whether ore not I want to be loyal to someone who is so insecure they need physical evidence of my loyalty. trust goes two ways, and if God cant trust me to trust him, than idk if hes worthy of my devotion.

God was testing Abrahams commitment to his faith and by ordering to kill his son, and he did not let him kill his son as a way of repaying him for his faithfulness. Obviously it is not okay to kill, but he was testing Abraham and showed that his priority was to be faithful to God.

For the person who believes in God, of course they would think it is morally right because the command came from God. To the person who believes in God, as long as they truly believe in their God, they will believe and do whatever is commanded of them even if it is contradictory. Nonetheless, as a person who doesn't believe in God, I think it is incredibly wrong to kill the innocent. Because of my beliefs and morals, I don't think it is permissible to condone murder of anyone, especially my own son.

Obedience can be explained best by Milgrim's experiments which tested the limits of people when instructed to do something "morally wrong". People are more likely to obey when instructed by a person or entity of authority. To an extent, this can explain the story of Abraham and Isaac.
