What I got from the article, was that the idea of ones "self" is only an illusion. There is only what makes up that being. Like when the author talks about the cart. it is made of wheels, and other parts that make up the entity "cart." it is the same with humans and other beings. there is no "self", only that of which makes up the self.

What I understood the article to say was that people's idea of "self" doesn't exist, and that people who do believe in it will only encounter unhappiness. Also, that the only way to find happiness is to accept that there is no "self" and see that the illusion of the "self" has a crucial effect on the decisions that a person makes.

What I got from the article was that there is no such thing as a "self" and that it is merely an illusion. People who don't accept this are not living up to full potential and people who do realize how largely it interacts with decision making.

After reading the article, it is clear to me that the Buddhists perspective on Self is that there is no self at all. There is no end product of ourself; we are just gradually transcending to new identities. The identity of Self is ultimately just an illusion.
