Due to the recession, the median income in the Napa Valley dropped 6% in 2009, going from $72,000 in 2008 to $68,000. However, despite the decreased median income, Napa went up from being the 15th to the 13th county with the highest income in the state. Economists claim that this situation resulted from the economy readjusting itself to the drop in the market. In other words, the reason that Napa’s ranking went up is that every county suffered a decrease in income. Nevertheless, the Napa County is still doing relatively better than other regions in the state. For instance, Lake County has a median income of $45,000 and it suffered a drop of 7.4%, thus Napa stands out with a higher income and a lower decline percentage. Furthermore, the article mentions that the decreased income “likely reflected supply and demand.” With an unemployment rate of 10.7%, competition for jobs is inevitable. While supply of jobs has decreased, demand has increased. Therefore, the median income dropped.

The Napa county median income dropped 6% a few years back. Napa went from being the fifteenth to the thirteenth county with the biggest income in the state. For some reason Napa county is doing better than other counties in the region. This is probably because the grapes

The median income in Napa county droped in 2009 form $72,242 in 2008 to $67,950. The recession caused a substantial amount of unemployment therefore lowering the median income in Napa county as well as every other county in California with the exception of one. Napa also rose in the highest median income of the state from 15th to 13th. I think this is because we have a more stable economy than other counties might have; being that wine industry provides a more consistant income than otheres might.

The article about personal income in Napa County reflects the changes our economy is undergoing. The article talks about the decrease of median income in Napa County. From the article, you can conclude that the drop in median income is due to the increase in unemployment because of the decrease in supply for homes. The decrease in supply for homes causes a decrease in demand for construction workers, creating a significant amount of unemployed workers around the valley. Because median is the average, we have to take into consideration all of those people in our county who have lost jobs. Even though our county median income has decreased, our counties median income ranked higher then before on a state scale. This occurs because state wide every counties income is decreasing due to national economy. The increase in rank was simply showing that even though our median income went down, we should not be scared, its normal that median incomes in counties are decreasing. This clearly shows that our county has not been affected as bad as other counties.

$67,950 is the 2009 median income for Napa County, it has decreased by 5.9 percent since last year in 2008. Although, Napa County rose from the 15th highest median income county in the state of California, to the 13th highest. This happened because due to the recession, less jobs are available everywhere. Therefore, every county's median income dropped in California. Napa's didn't drop as dramatically as others, therefore we went up to the 13th highest median income county in the state. We are doing well for ourselves, compared to Lake County which is 48th, with a median income of $45,428, a decline of 7.4 percent. The reason Napa's median income hasn't dropped as much as other counties is because of our large number of service jobs here in the Valley. We are a large agriculture county, due to this, we can provide more jobs, and even when the economy is in a recession as it is. The produce that we grow here and produce and export is of inelastic demand. People need to eat. They won't stop buying the things we produce, ex. rice, they will stop buying luxuries such as new cars and new TVs.

the article talks about how the income in napa has been going down because of the recession. unemployment also increased in the past two years. the county of napa though, can somewhat prevent this because of the wine making here in this county so that's a big helper in this.

The median income for Napa Valley decreased By 6% it went from 72,000 to 68,000 due to the recession. Despite all of this the napa county went from 15th to 13th highest payed counties in the state. This happened because not only has napa's median income decreased but others suffered as well and they suffered worst therefore napa county moved up two spots.

(YELLOW). Napa County has recently faced a drop in median income of nearly six percent. This is largely due to the decline of overall economy (economies countrywide) coupled with a significant drop in recent real estate sales. However, regardless of the fact that the bay area contains some of California's most affluent economies, Napa has suffered less than surrounding areas. This has resulted in Napa County having the 13th highest income in the state.

The results of the recession are making the median income in the napa valley drop from year to year. The economy is having a major impact making the numbers decrease, but also from the perspective of Bruce Wilson who says its a reflection of supply and demand. This can cause some problems with families who have more people to support but have less money to do it. Although the median decreased, Napa Valley went up from 15th to 13th county with the highest income in California. Compared to other counties we are doing fairly well since they have also been affected with the decrease of median income. We are doing well because we are one of the ten wealthiest counties in the state with Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, and San Francisco.

The Napa County income has droped by 6% this is happening because the economy hasent done so great so the numbers have decreased. Napa went from being the 15th to the 19th county it the biggest income in the state. From the article you can see that in media income has dropped due to the increase of unemplyment and decrease in supply for homes.

The median income in Napa County has dropped a total of 5.9 percent from $72,242 to $67,950. The median income has dropped in Napa County mainly because of the struggle with the economy. Many people have lost their jobs, especially construction workers which puts a damper on the median income prices. In addition because the economy has fallen, many of the middle income jobs have been set aside in order to save money making it hard for people to try and make more money when there are not any jobs. In addition the real estate market took a big fall resulting in low prices which real estate agents are learning to cope with. The article states the "lack of supply in jobs" creates competition for others jobs and a high demand for them since the unemployment rate in Napa county is 10.7 percent. The article also states many statistics about other counties which have suffered from a loss in median income and the hope that it will soon recover with more jobs being created. While we have had a loss, the Napa valley is a very wealthy area s our loss is still smaller than other counties. While we lost 5 percent we still became the 13 highest county for median income. The statistics state that places such as lake county have dropped 7 percent which will extremely effect their county since they are not as wealthy as the Napa valley. We have some cushion since we are a wealthy county, but it will not last forever it we stay on the same path.

The median income in Napa has dropped close to 6 percfent recently. It has gone from 72,242 to 67,950. The main cause of this drop has been the "Great Recession." Because of the recession, many people have become unemployed or else had to choose jobs of lower quality but higher availability. This has dropped the median income because of the unemployment.

The article is talking about the decrease in the median income in the napa county by 5.9%. Even though the Napa County has decreased we have raised from having the 15th highest median income state wide to having the 13th. This is a result of the econmies decline as a whole. The Bay Area is home to seven of the ten wealthiest counties in California. Napa County has a higher income and a lower decline percentage so we are doing a little better then other counties.
