My main srategy was to look at tax cuts and other similar things that favored the extremely wealthy. From my understanding, many of those were implemented under Bush as he was also increasing spending, and so increased the deficit. I think that at this time, with such a large and still growing deficit, Americans have to make some sort of sacrifice to help.

A budget deficit is the amount of debt that the budget has. Currently the U.S. budget deficit is predicted to be $418 billion in 2015 and $1,345 in 2030. To solve this, I just clicked on the boxes that seemed to cause the least harm to taxpayers. I didn't pay as much attention to the amount of money it would be saving, but rather the amount of security it would give to taxpayers. 65% of my saving came from spending cuts, while 35% came from tax increases. I felt that it would be easier for people to accept spending cuts if their tax rates didn't increase significantly. To me, the most effect cuts came when dealing with medical issues. Just raising the age requirement for medicaid to one year later saved a lot of money.
